Why You Should Stop Worry About Politics -Video Update

Many Americans are worried about the political situation in America. Ever since we’ve returned to the US we’ve heard a lot about Republicans and Democrats and especially Obamacare!

We need to stop getting so worried about the government and turn our focus to the work Jesus has called us to do!

Politicians can’t stop God from doing his will

If you watch enough broadcast news it can be easy to worry about the direction of our nation but we need to realize that God has a way of accomplishing his will no matter what our political leaders do. In fact, if you look at Biblical history you’ll find that God often used the worst leaders to do his will.

Politicians can’t change hearts

We all want political change on some level or another but we must realize that the root of man’s problem is in his heart, not in the government. Politicians can’t change hearts but Jesus can!

Preach the gospel of Jesus

Instead of worry about the political situation we need to focus on preaching the gospel. Jesus is the only one who can offer lasting change for any nation or group of people.

Pray for political peace

We also need to pray for political peace and stability so that we have the freedom to preach the gospel.

Pray for Ukraine

The political unrest in Ukraine continues to grow, around 6 people died in violence in January. So far it doesn’t look like the protesters are backing down.

Please pray for peace in Ukraine!

To help you pray effectively I’m sending out “Prayer points for Ukraine” every Wednesday in February.

Pray for us

We visited 5 churches in January and February is going to be even busier! We will be visiting churches in the Boise, Idaho area for much of February.

Join the team

Several churches raised their support level in January, which brought us closer to our goal of 100% but we still have room for more supporters. If God has blessed you with resources please consider becoming part of our team!

Question: Do you think that preaching the gospel can result in political change?

Your words about not worrying about politics are very helpful for me. I really don’t think about them as a habit, and I don’t watch the news. However, in studying Isaiah in our adult class on Sundays, the connection to our current state of government can’t help but come up. But, I really appreciate your view and found a more peaceful state after reading it. Thank you. Oh, and I left a link to this post on our class’ blog. I think the rest of the class will find it helpful too.

Kari, that’s funny because when I made this video I was thinking of the book of Isaiah and how God providentially used so many rulers to bring glory to himself. Great stuff! Thanks for sharing!

I’m with you, Caleb. Only God can make lasting change and faith in man is doomed to fail. I’m also praying for the Ukraine and your ministry.

I agree that politics can’t change things, at least as they are. But I also believe that God can change politics. I believe we can play a part in that through prayer, through action, through making a cry for ridding bad politicians and getting new, honest, Godly people into office. But not far-right tea-parrtiers.

Prayer makes all the difference. I was reading James 5:16 today and 2 Chron 7:14 has always given me hope that change for our nation is possible. It starts with the believers.

also, I remind myself that no one is in a position of power without God’s consent. I think too many believers give satan too much credit/power. Satan can do nothing without God’s approval. We must know God’s word to be able to trust in it.

Good reminders TC! We always need to pull ourselves back to God’s Word otherwise we can easily become worried about the situation we find the world in today.

Amen! I stay away from anything political. I pray for the people running our country but don’t discuss it with others.

Wow, Dan. Do you really never discus politics? I don’t quite take it that far, I think it’s fine to discus it but to get all worried and out of sorts, well that’s not good. We need to trust that God’s in control.

I talk about it with my wife but don’t really bring it up in a conversation. If someone started to talk with me about it, I won’t cut the conversation off, I’d talk to them.

Most of the people I hear talking about politics bring up the negative or how bad our President is, though I don’t think he is the best President I’m not going to bad mouth him. Which I’m seeing a lot more bad mouthing than people saying they are praying for the people leading our Country. I’d rather stay away from it.

Ukraine is definitely in our prayers. From our perspective we’ve seen the results in places all over the world who have God removed from their midst. That is our great fear. We see God being removed from our midst. That result is directly related to our spiritual impact on our country. Historically political change has definitely been related to the gospel. Just consider the Gutenberg Press and it’s impact on a person’s ability to get their hands on a Bible.

I believe it is important that I must be aware of what is going on in this world. I am 77 this year but I know that God wants me to reach as many politicians as I can with the Gospel as he does anyone He provides who he has made ready to receive. Neither does he want me to be wishy washy. As well I am interested in Australian politics and also like to keep abreast of what is going on in my home country the UK and also what is happening in the US as our Government todies to the US in a most disgraceful way.

I am sure the Lord has put the Abbott Government in to discipline the people in this country for they were not at all appreciative of all they have had with the previous government. God has His way in the whirlwinds and storms of our lives.

I agree, Maureen, it is important to stay up to date with what’s going on in the world as long has we don’t get too worried about things and trust that ultimately god is still in control.
