Dear friends,
On July 8th our church ordained Mikhael Rodoslavov for the ministry of pastor. This was the first ordination in our church and it signifies a great step. About 500 people showed up for the event, which we held outdoors despite 95° temperatures! After the service we treated everyone to some good Ukrainian plov (rice pilaf). We had just enough time to eat before the downpour of rain started with a show of thunder and lightning!
Please pray for Mikhael Rodoslavov as he serves in the role of pastor.
Church Camp
July is a month of church camps! Our church camp is held in a forested area about 40 miles outside of Odessa. Can you imagine 170 people camping in tents? We felt a little like the children of Israel in the wilderness! Our youth put on a wonderful program for the 90 children who were there. Many of these children are unchurched.
I had the privilege of speaking with both the children and the adults during our camp. While the children were busy with bible lessons I talked with the adults about biblical principles of child raising. Please pray that the truth of Jesus Christ which was shared with these children and their parents would bear fruit.
Biblical Counseling
Christina has also been busy over the past month with a new translation project. She’s working hard with the translation team to do the final edit for a biblical counseling course. This course will be used to counsel young women in a pregnancy care center which is being established by our teammate Holly Friesen.
Please pray for the team to finish the editing of the biblical counseling course and for the establishment of the pregnancy care center.
Coordinator for Good Soil
I’m very excited to announce that we now have a full-time coordinator for the Good Soil ministries in Ukraine. Misha will be working to help churches learn how to effectively communicate the gospel in any culture and to disciple young believers. He will be organizing seminars throughout Ukraine and teaching believers how to use Good Soil materials like “The Story of Hope” and “The Way to Joy”.
Please pray for Misha as he coordinates the Good Soil ministry.
Ministry with Family
My parents are in Ukraine for a couple of weeks and of course they are enjoying time with family but that is not all! I will be traveling with my father on August 11-13th to Northern Moldova. We will be ministering with an evangelist named Vasilly. This is promising to be an extremely busy trip with many speaking opportunities. I’ll be posting updates on our blog so check often or better yet, subscribe if you haven’t already!
Please pray for my father and I as we travel and minister together.
