I made it to Cherkassy this morning on the train. The train arrived just after 5:00 am. It was very hot when I boarded the train in Odessa and I was expecting a long and hot night. However, as we headed north the weather got cooler and there was a big thunderstorm.
By the time I decided to lay down and get some sleep it was raining and I couldn’t get my get the window to close. I was on the upper bunk right at the level of the window. I eventually turned around so my feet were next to the window and covered them with my blanket. I did get some sleep, but not a whole lot.
In the picture below you can see what the train car looked like on the inside. I was riding “Platz Cart” or “economy class” and my bed was about halfway down up above on the left side.
Christina’s dad, Vladimir, meet me at the train station in Cherkassy. It was great to see Christina’s parents and her brother Serj.
