Nickolaev Zoo

By No tags 0

Today we went to the zoo in Nickolaev, about 1.5 hours away from Odessa. This is the city where Christina was born. They have a great zoo there. It is many times better than the dirty little zoo here in Odessa where the most interesting animals were the rats stealing food from all the poor animals!

The day turned out perfect. It was one of the first real spring days we have had. I think it was probably in the lower to mid 70s in Nickolaev. However, it stayed cool all day in Odessa, so were glad we got out of town for the day. As you can see in the pictures all the flowers were in bloom. On the way there Noelle was looking at the lush green fields out of her window and she asked, “Why is everything green outside?” I don’t think that is a question our kids ever asked when we lived in Washington.

After the zoo we had a chance to visit some of Christina’s relatives. One of her uncles who lives in Nickolaev cancer and currently the prospects are not too good for him. Christina’s parents were also came and had a chance to talk with a little bit about Christ. Although, in years past he was very opposed to even the idea of God he now seems to be opening up. Please pray that God would continue to work in his heart.

Noelle left with Christina’s parents shortly before we left for home. She will stay with them for a few weeks. Christina and I will be going to Hungry for a conference April 29th through May 3rd.
