Well, we finally got on the road today. We had a lot to get done before we left. I think we accomplished everything we set out to do. Some how whenever you make a trip like this you always feel like you must have left something behind. We didn’t leave any of the kids behind! They were asking us all day, “When are we going to leave?”
Both Naomi and Mishael have really been looking forward to this trip. Naomi was especially excited because she is getting out of school for two weeks. Actually, we are bringing along plenty of homework for her to work on. She is a very good student anyway, so she shouldn’t suffer. Her favorite thing is to read books. Right now she is reading through “Little House On the Prairie.”
Mishael has also been excited about the trip. Of course, he is not in school yet, but I think he just likes the excitement of doing something different. We usually end up visiting McDonalds a few times on trips like this. McDonalds alone is cause for great excitement in both Naomi and Mishael. Today we had dinner at McDonalds and that was definitely the highlight for Mishael. After we sat down he looked around and then quietly asked me, “Are we at McDonalds?” When I told him that we were his expression brightened and he said with enthusiasm “Y-ES!“
As for Noelle, she is just happy to be with the family and as long as we keep her fed we don’t hear too many complaints.
Tonight we are staying in Kennewick. We will travel to Boise tomorrow for the kick off dinner with all the pastors and missionaries. Christina and I are also excited about this trip, however, we have slightly different reasons than the kids. Ultimately we are praying that the Lord would be able to effectively use us to bless the churches and people that we met. The Lord has given us such a great opportunity and with it great responsibility. We are compelled to share our God with all.
