“Why did you come to Ukraine?” I was asked by one of the mothers as I drove a van load of kids out to camp last month. The mother, who was a self proclaimed atheist, couldn’t imagine why someone would want to leave their home country and come halfway across the world. Her question provided me a good opportunity to share the hope we have Jesus Christ, a hope so great that it can motivate us to cross oceans to share it with others!
The goal of camp was not just to relax but to use the time to communicate the gospel. We had about 35 kids, most of them unchurched, and another 25 adults. My main task was leading the morning Bible time with the adults. I am thankful for all who prayed for me during that week. I felt that the Lord gave me needed help in language. On the last evening 6 of the campers professed faith in Christ and that is why I came to Ukraine!!
