Do you have a hunger for God’s Word? Do you look forward to that time when you read the Bible every day? If you’re like me you probably have times when you’d rather watch TV or browse the internet than sit down and read Scripture.

This is the first episode of a podcast I’m calling “Now is the Time”. In this episode I talk about why we can struggle with a lack of desire to read God’s Word and what we can do about it.I took this shot as Nickolas and I headed down the mountain to deliver the bread we had just obtained after visiting the shepherd’s cabin.
Check out this post for some lessons I learned on this recent family vacation.
Why do we sometimes not hunger for God’s Word?
1. We have filled our minds with junk information. 2. We don’t desire God and thus we don’t desire His Word. 3. We lack spiritual exercise. 4. We have become spiritually anorexic.

June 9, 2013Great podcast. I make sure that no matter what other obligations I have that I read at least three chapters a day. That discipline reminds me of the priorities one should have in life.

June 9, 2013Josh, that’s a great discipline to develop! Thanks for listening, I’m glad it was a blessing to you!

June 9, 2013Great Podcast episode! I listened to it when you Tweeted me the link and it was just what I needed to hear a the time. I’m being more intentional about spending time with God through prayer and reading the Bible. Looking forward to future episodes.

June 9, 2013Thanks Dan! I’m not sure yet what frequency I’ll do these. I think I’ll have to give it a try for awhile and see how it goes. There’s a lot of time investment at first but once I get the hang of it I’m sure it will be easier and quicker for me to crank them out.

June 11, 2013Great podcast, Caleb! You know, listening to this I wanted to try some of that Russian pork fat – is it Salah? That sounds good!
My recent strategy for developing a hunger for God has really been admitting to God that I don’t have it and praying for him to supernaturally work within me to create that desire.

June 11, 2013Salo is great if you’re hungry enough! You’re right we do have to admit our inability to God and I think in doing that we will begin to create a desire for his Word because we recognize how much we need it!

July 4, 2013I found my way to your site through the Cor Deo site. I’m from your corner of the world, Oregon! Really enjoyed your Podcast. Thanks for the encouragement to pursue Christ which will definitely cause us to hunger for the Bible. I thought I’d share a couple of other related links that reinforce the things you’ve shared:
