6 Truths I Want My Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual Friends to Know After the Orlando Massacre

It’s hard to come up with any words that would seem appropriate after the brutal gunning down of 50 people this weekend in Orlando’s Pulse night club.

The English language doesn’t have strong enough words to describe the vileness of such a beastly act. It repulses the senses and poisons the mind to even try to begin thinking how a person could commit such a heinous crime!

pablo (3)There seems to be nearly unanimous consensus in America condemning the actions of Omar Mateen as evil and wicked, and they are right to do so.

This crime has taken a huge emotional toll on LGBT people all over America and all over the world. Many are finding it hard to come to grips with what happened and many are asking “Why?”

At a time like this gays, lesbians, bisexualS and transgenders need something to hold onto, they need real hope that will see them through.

That’s why I thought this would be a good time to share with my LGBT friends several truths from the Bible that can breathe hope back into their lives.

God condemns murder | Exodus 20:13

God is clear on his position on this, he simply says, “Do not murder!” All life is created by God himself and thus it is to be valued and above all human life is to be valued because God made man in his own image.

Murder is wrong and what happened this Sunday morning was cold-blooded outright murder and we should explain in no other way!

No matter what other psychological, mental, or emotional factors there may have been, this was murder plain and simple.

God condemns it and so should we!

God loves LGBT people | John 3:16

My dear gay, lesbian, and bisexual friends you need to know that God loves you deeper and stronger and farther and higher and longer than any one has ever loved you or ever will love you!

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his unique Son so that everyone who believes in him might not be lost but have eternal life.” Joh 3:16

His love for you is not dampened or put out by anything you could do or say or think! He loves you on your worst day and in your worst mood and when you have done absolutely nothing for him.

He loves you so much that he gave up his one and only Son so that he could rescue you!

God want’s all LGBT  people to go heaven | 2 Pet 3:9

Don’t think for a minute that God is just waiting for a chance to punish you, torment you, and send you to hell.

He’s not.

In fact he is very, very, very patient!

“The Lord is not slow about his promise, as some people understand slowness, but is being patient with you. He does not want anyone to perish, but wants everyone to repent.” 2Pe 3:9

God desires you to know him, he desires to give you life and hope, he wants you to repent!

Some of the members of the 1st century church were homosexuals | 1 Corinthians 6:9-11

Some of the members of the very first churches in the New Testament were previously practicing homosexuals! But that didn’t stop God from calling them, that didn’t stop the Apostle Paul from showing them the love of Jesus.

These gay men and lesbian women heard the good news about Jesus, how he took the punishment for their sins, which included homosexuality and they believed. Because of their faith, God forgave them and changed their lives.

You know that wicked people will not inherit the kingdom of God, don’t you? Stop deceiving yourselves! Sexually immoral people, idolaters, adulterers, male prostitutes, homosexuals, thieves, greedy people, drunks, slanderers, and robbers will not inherit the kingdom of God. That is what some of you were! But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of our Lord Jesus the Messiah and by the Spirit of our God.” 1Co 6:9-11

These people would no longer call themselves thieves, greedy, or homosexual, they were now followers of Jesus!

LGBT people are no different than anyone else | Romans 3:23

When it really comes down to it whether or gay, straight, or otherwise, we all have the very same problem -sin.

“For there is no distinction among people, since all have sinned and continue to fall short of God’s glory.” Rom 3:22b-23

Sin keeps us from having a relationship with God, sin eventually will lead to physical death and ultimately to never ending separation from God.

Just as sin entered the world through one man, and death resulted from sin, therefore everyone dies, because everyone has sinned.” Rom 5:12

There is only one hope for the LGBT community | John 3:36

If you are LGBT and looking desperately for answers after this terrible tragedy, look no further than Jesus!

Jesus is the author of life and he is willing to give you life!

Jesus lived a perfect life and died in your place!

Jesus offers you hope and righteousness and the promise of life with God.

If you are willing to confess your sins, including homosexuality, and believe in Jesus as the one and only God and Savior, then he is ready to give you forgiveness and eternal life!

The one who believes in the Son has eternal life, but the one who disobeys the Son will not see life. Instead, the wrath of God remains on him. Joh 3:36

I plead with you, take the hope that Jesus offers, you! Turn from your sins and believe in the only one who can love you with unending, undying, unlimited love!
