Things are coming together well for our pastors conference on discipleship February 10-11 in Kiev. I would like to ask you to keep this at the top of your prayer list.
Why did we decide to have this conference? Let me explain a little. The focus of the CMI has always been the local church. We believe that God works through the local church. Thus we are creating programs that help to strengthen and multiply the local church. These programs consist of biblical and theological education.
We believe in the value of theological education for every minister of Christ! It is critical to establish a correct theological frame work in the mind so that all of our ministry would be directed by the truth of God’s Word. Without a theological framework our ministry will either be directed by pragmatism; we do what ever works best, or traditionalism; we do it because it we are used to it.
As much as we value theological education we are also very aware of its limits.
Sadly, many people have the theology in their heads, but absolutely no spiritual growth in their hearts. This happens because the task of creating a spiritually mature person is not so simple and or so easy. Unfortunately people have made the mistake of thinking that education and spiritual maturity are the same things.
Recognizing this problem we decided to create this conference.
Our goal for this conference is to encourage the pastors and church leaders in the area of disciple making and to give them helpful tools for making spiritually mature servants in their churches.
Please pray for me (Caleb) as I organize and bring together some of the final details for the conference. Also pray for our conference speaker, Ron Berrus, as he travels to Ukraine. Pray that God will keep him healthy and give him the strength and wisdom he needs to share with the church leaders who have gathered. Pray also for Ron’s interpreter, Vlad. Pray that God would stir the hearts of those who come so that when they get home they can began applying some of the principles they have learned.
You can read a more about this conference on the CMI’s website and learn how to sponsor some church leaders who will be attending.
